Childbirth

Childbirth can be one of the most rewarding experiences a woman can have, but so often we can be overcome with worries and anxieties of our own, as well as those that others pass onto us.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

You can be calm and in control to have the best labour and birth possible for you.

  • My courses combines Cognitive Hypnotherapy techniques and the principles of natural childbirth to support you and your partner in labour and childbirth.

  • In our sessions you will learn and practice:
  • Self–hypnosis: how to go into a state of calm and relaxation
  • How to focus yourself so that you can manage your labour and birth in the best way for you.
  • Visualisations that will help you to rehearse how you want your labour and birth to be – this primes the mind and body to expect a positive outcome.
  • How to manage pain without the use of drugs.
  • How to harness the innate skill all women have of giving birth.
  • How to reframe previous negative experiences if relevant.

Many new parents who have been through my childbirth course are surprised at how they need little or no chemical pain relief during labour, how much quicker the labour has been, and how much quicker their recovery time has been afterwards. These techniques can also be useful after the birth, helping you to manage the changes that a new baby brings.

Women’s bodies have been designed for pregnancy and birth; women have been doing it for years. Several research studies have found that hypnotherapy for childbirth can help women to have shorter labour, whilst needing less medication.

The course consists of a one day express class with you and your partner in small groups or on a one to one.

Your course can be booked at any time during your pregnancy at  www.mindfulmamma.co.uk. An excellent time to do the course is at the beginning of the third trimester, so that you and your partner can prepare fully for the birth. Alternatively, you may like to consider beginning earlier in your pregnancy so that the benefits can begin as soon as possible. This also gives you the added advantage of being able to spend more time practising the techniques that will be taught to you.

If you are fairly late in your pregnancy, please don’t think that it’s too late for hypnotherapy for childbirth to be of use to you. Any amount of practice that you are able to do between now and the birth of your baby is likely to be time well spent. And who knows, it may be the difference that makes the difference to something that most people only get to experience a few times in their life. Shouldn’t it be the best experience it possibly can be for you?

You also may be eligible for a grant of £190 during pregnancy, after 25 weeks. For more details, go to: http://campaigns2.direct.gov.uk/money4mum2be/en/
